Preparation Instructions for shipping via Brenger

These Preparation Instructions explain how to properly prepare Goods for Transport via Brenger. Correct preparation ensures that the Transport is carried out safely and smoothly and helps prevent damage, delays or additional costs.

These Preparation Instructions form an integral part of the Terms and Conditions for Customers and of the Transport Agreement, and apply in the version as published on the Platform at the time the Order is placed.

  • The Courier is responsible solely for the Transport of the Goods and performs the Transport using only customary tools, such as hand trucks and furniture dollies. If special equipment or facilities are required to move Goods to or from a specific floor or level (such as moving lifts, freight elevators, cranes or other location-specific facilities), the Customer must arrange these independently.
  • As a rule, Goods are transported as a whole, directly from the pick-up address to the delivery address. Full disassembly is generally not required, but may be necessary to enable safe Transport (see section 2).
  • The instructions Making the Goods Ready for Shipment (section 2) and Preparing the Pick-up and Delivery Location (section 4) apply to all Customers as mandatory obligations under the Transport Agreement.
  • The instructions Packaging of Goods (section 3) apply for private (consumer) Customers as a recommendation to prevent damage and for Business Customers as a condition for entitlement to coverage under the transport insurance.

Before placing an Order or before the Goods are collected, the Customer must verify:

The Customer is responsible for offering the Goods to the Courier in a condition ready for shipment.

Goods are considered ready for shipment if they can be moved safely and without unacceptable risk by one or more persons and can pass without difficulty through standard doorways, corridors, staircases and elevators.

If this is not the case, the item must be partially or fully disassembled, insofar as necessary to enable safe Transport.

In addition, the following applies:

  • Movable or loose parts (such as doors, drawers, shelves or panels) must be securely fastened so that they cannot open, shift or detach during lifting or Transport.
  • Small loose components (such as screws, keys, remote controls or accessories) must be packed in a closed bag or box and attached to the item.
  • Goods must be clean and empty. Loose contents, liquids or unattached accessories must be removed in advance.

It is strongly recommended to take photographs of the condition of the Goods and of the manner in which they have been prepared prior to pick-up. This may be helpful in the event of questions or damage handling.

For many large and sturdy items, packaging is not strictly required. The packaging instructions below are nevertheless recommended in order to prevent damage.

For Business Customers, compliance with the instructions below is required in order to be eligible for coverage under the transport insurance.

Fragile or breakable Goods

Goods made of glass, mirrors, natural stone, lamps or other breakable materials must be packaged with shock-absorbing material (such as bubble wrap or foam), preferably on multiple sides. Cardboard, boards, thick plastic or comparable materials must be used for additional protection. Shrink wrap alone is insufficient. Empty spaces must be filled to prevent movement during Transport.

Corners, edges and protruding parts

Corners, edges and protruding parts must be additionally protected with multiple layers of shock-absorbing material to prevent direct contact and point loads during Transport.

Sensitive surfaces

Goods with sensitive surfaces, such as stainless steel, must be wrapped in a soft cloth, foam cover or protective foil, with bubble wrap as an outer layer, to prevent scratches and dents.

Electric bicycles

Electric bicycles must be switched off. The battery must remain in the bicycle (separate shipment is not permitted), and loose parts must be secured. It is recommended to leave the keys in the bicycle as well.

The Customer is responsible for ensuring a safe and unobstructed route, allowing the Goods to be moved safely and without risk by one or more persons between the Courier’s vehicle and the pick-up or delivery location, without the use of special equipment.

The Customer must therefore ensure that:

  • obstacles such as furniture, rugs and decorations are removed;
  • doors, corridors, staircases and elevators are easily accessible;
  • floors, walls, corners and door frames are protected where necessary;

fragile decorations are temporarily removed.
